Julio & Amalia Palmaz
Coombsville, Napa valley

Julio and Amalia Palmaz founded Palmaz Vineyards to make a dream come true.

The dream began many years ago when Amalia and Julio first moved to California from Argentina and fell in love with the charm and extraordinary wines of the Napa Valley.

Amalia and Julio came to California in 1978 to complete Julio's postgraduate studies at the University of California at Davis. During his studies, Julio Palmaz developed the idea for a revolutionary medical device, the intravascular stent.

In their spare time, Julio and Amalia visited Napa Valley regularly and fell in love with Napa's incredible wines, especially the Cabernets. Julio and Amalia had a vision of owning their own vineyard one day!

The vision began to take shape when Amalia learned of an abandoned vineyard at the foot of Mount George in eastern Napa.

They bought the property and started restoring it in 1997.

Together with their children Florencia and Christian, the Palmaz family has built a remarkable winery in the heart of the Coombsville region.

Here they have revived the historic old vineyard and estate of Hagen along with the design and architecture of their 15-storey underground winery where the wines are made exclusively by gravity. At no time are the wines pumped so that the elegance and charm of the wines produced here are perfectly displayed.

The domain produces approximately 22,000 bottles of wine annually.

Love the land, Know the grape and make wine that

honors both!
