Spring Mountain, Napa Valley

V ailia Esh traveled extensively for her work in the wine business and had already gained some experience before finding her home in

Paso Robles and in 2010 decided to make wine.

She loves the freedom in California to have a casual wine style.

She is free to explore and push herself to new horizons.

Paso Robles and the Central Coast are as young as wine regions allowing Vailia to develop its own identity.

The many trips that have left impressions of regions such as Pauillac, Chateauneuf or Montalcino can be found in her portfolio.

The Desparada wines are guided more by its spirit than by a certain style.

Each wine represents a particular vision, and in each vintage she uses her acquired knowledge, new varieties and small vineyards to bring that vision into sharper focus.

She works with fruit from over 20 iconic vineyards along the Central Coast.

The application of old techniques, the use of amphoras and concrete eggs along with Vailia's spirit results in "New World" wines that are firmly rooted in the old world.

Wines with serious depth and potential while remaining stylish and pure according to Jeb Dunnuck in The Wine Advocate.
